FAQ
Good to know before you sail.
Honest answers to the questions our guests ask most. Anything missing? Ask us directly.
Booking and costs
Is the price for the whole yacht or per person?
For the whole yacht, for one week. We only offer private charters: we never combine different groups on one yacht.
What costs should we expect on top of the charter fee?
Depending on the yacht and the type of charter: skipper and host, fuel, end cleaning, marina fees and your provisioning. Every quote lists these separately, so there are no surprises at the end of the week.
How does fuel work?
Like a rental car. You start with a full tank and a fuel truck refills the yacht when you return. You pay the fuel service directly, by card or cash. Consumption depends on the yacht, the weather and how much you use the generator and air conditioning.
Are taxes included?
Yes. Our offers include all taxes unless stated otherwise.
Are the yachts insured? Should we buy insurance?
All our yachts are insured. We strongly recommend trip cancellation insurance from a provider in your own country. We are happy to provide any documents your insurer needs.
Is there a security deposit on a skippered charter?
No. With our professional skipper on board, no security deposit is required.
What is your cancellation policy?
Any change of dates, destination or yacht is treated as a cancellation. Cancellations more than 60 days before departure are refundable only if the yacht is rebooked, less an administration fee. Within 60 days, payments are not refundable. Full details are in our Terms and Conditions.
Our charters
Do you offer cabin charters?
No, only private charters. For two guests, one of our smaller yachts keeps the cost reasonable.
Can we sail for less than a week?
We work week by week, from Saturday to Saturday, because a good holiday on the water needs at least five days. Two or three weeks are of course possible.
Can we start on a day other than Saturday?
Our charters run Saturday to Saturday. Send us your dates anyway: occasionally a midweek start is possible.
When do we embark and disembark?
Your yacht is ready on Saturday from 16:30–17:00 at Alimos Marina. Your skipper welcomes you, shows you the yacht and gives a safety briefing, and you plan the week together. You return to the marina on Friday evening, sleep on board, and disembark at 09:00 on Saturday.
Itinerary
Where do your charters start?
Mainly from Athens, Saturday to Saturday. Starting from Athens lets us follow the weather: the Cyclades when the wind allows, the quieter Saronic islands when it does not.
Can we plan the route before we arrive?
Share your preferences with us and we will suggest a route. The final plan is made with your captain on the day, because the weather decides more than any map.
Can we visit Santorini in one week?
Honestly, no. Santorini is about 140 miles from Athens, around 17 hours of sailing each way. Our suggestion: after your charter, take a 30-minute flight or a ferry and spend a couple of days there.
How many hours do we sail each day?
Usually between 2.5 and 6 hours, depending on the route, the weather and how you like to travel. The times in our sample itineraries are realistic.
Can we pick up the yacht on an island?
It is possible, but there is a one-way cost for crew, fuel and formalities, and reaching the islands by ferry takes time. We usually recommend starting from Athens.
Can we see many islands in one week?
Greece has thousands of islands. We suggest choosing fewer and enjoying each one. Your captain will help you get the most out of the week.
Life on board
What is already on the yacht?
Everything you need: a fully equipped galley with plates, glasses, cutlery and cookware, bed linen and towels (one set per person per week), snorkelling masks and fins, and a dinghy with outboard.
Can we cook on board?
Yes. Every yacht has a gas hob and oven, and the larger yachts and catamarans have more than one fridge and a freezer.
How do we charge phones? Which plugs are on board?
European 220V sockets and USB sockets in the cabins and saloon. We have adapters if you need them. Guests from the US should check their devices accept 220V.
Can we use a hair dryer?
On catamarans and larger yachts, at any time. On smaller yachts, only when connected to shore power.
Can we smoke on board?
Only on deck, never inside. Ask us for ashtrays.
Are children safe on board?
A sailing holiday is one of the best family holidays there is. Parents remain responsible for their children at all times, on the move and at anchor. Your skipper helps, but cannot watch everyone at once.
Food and provisioning
How does provisioning work?
We send you a provisioning list. Tick what you want and we have it delivered to your yacht before you arrive, free of charge. No waiting in a supermarket on a busy Saturday.
And with a host on board?
Either we deliver your list, or you shop together with your host, or (our suggestion) you tell us your preferences and any allergies and your host prepares everything before you arrive.
How much food should we buy at the start?
Not too much. Every island has supermarkets, so a basic first order is enough.
Can we get ice?
Yes. Ask us before departure and we will bring it to the yacht. Ice is also sold in every island supermarket.
Captain and crew
How do you choose our skipper?
We match the skipper to your group: families, friends, first-timers, keen sailors. All our captains are easy-going and flexible, and returning guests often ask for the same captain again.
Where does the skipper sleep?
In the skipper cabin or, if you have a spare guest cabin, there. A proper bed helps your skipper rest, but your privacy comes first.
What about the crew’s meals?
Invite them to join you, or allow around €20–25 per person per day for their food.
Should we tip the crew?
It is customary when you are happy with the week, but never obligatory.
Packing and travel
What luggage should we bring?
Soft bags are best, as storage on board is limited. If you bring suitcases, we can keep them at our base for the week.
What should we pack?
Swimwear, light clothes, a sweater for the evenings, a light rain jacket, soft-soled shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Dress on board is casual.
Are there ATMs and laundries on the islands?
Yes. Most places accept cards, but carry some cash. Your captain knows where to find a laundry along the way.
